Maintenance of electrical systems

Introduction:

This course presents and discusses the latest global trends in the operation and maintenance of electrical works, including electricity generation systems, transmission and distribution networks, transformer stations, and control monitoring systems. The main axes of the course will be divided between defining electrical maintenance works and how to perform them safely and professionally. We will also address risk assessment during electrical work, how to calculate and evaluate risks, and work on minimizing them.

The course will be beneficial by providing a comprehensive explanation of all elements of the electrical system, including transformers, cables, generators, circuit breakers, and various protection systems. The emphasis will be on how to handle and test them accurately according to standard specifications.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, the participant will be able to:

Understand the fundamentals of electrical maintenance.

Familiarize themselves with electrical equipment maintenance.

Grasp the entire energy system.

Identify essential field tests for planned maintenance programs.

Develop a sound maintenance program.

Understand safety considerations in electrical maintenance.

Protection devices and protection against electrical faults.

Apply safe maintenance operations practices.

Training Methodology:

• The course will combine presentations with interactive discussions directed by the trainer based on individual participants' interests.

• Practical exercises, video materials, and case studies aim to stimulate discussions and provide maximum benefit to participants by supporting formal presentation sessions. The course leader will extensively benefit from case examples and case studies of issues in which they have personally participated.

• Participants will be motivated through workshops among themselves, and information will be clarified with simulation programs and devices that will be with the trainer for clear understanding.
